FAQs
Your $497 initial evaluation is a comprehensive starting point for care at ANU Wellness. It includes comprehensive laboratory testing with the cost of labs included, review of any recent labs you've had drawn, an in-depth review of your hormones, thyroid and metabolic health, a STYKU 3-D body scan, and a 90-minute one-on-one consultation with your provider.
During your consultation, we take the time to review your results together, discuss how your findings relate to your symptoms and areas of concern, and provide education so you understand what we are seeing and why it matters. Your lab findings are interpreted in the context of your symptoms, health history, stage of life, and individual goals rather than viewed in isolation.
We then develop your individualized treatment and health optimization plan based on your complete clinical picture.
If you decide to begin an ANU program following your evaluation, your $497 evaluation fee is applied in full toward your program fee.
Yes! Your comprehensive initial laboratory testing is included in the $497 initial evaluation fee, so you are not responsible for a separate bill for the initial testing included with your evaluation.
Because ANU is a cash-pay practice, we are also able to evaluate a broader range of health markers that may not always meet an insurance plan's coverage criteria or be reimbursed based on conventional medical-necessity requirements. This allows us to gather a more complete picture of your health without leaving you to discover an unexpected laboratory bill after testing is complete.
You won't be left with a surprise $1,000+ laboratory bill because your insurance company determined that certain testing wasn't medically necessary or covered under your plan. We believe you should know the cost of your care upfront, which is why we have incorporated the cost of your initial laboratory testing into your evaluation.
After booking, you'll receive your intake forms and instructions for completing your lab testing. Once your labs result, we reach out to schedule your 90-minute consultation.
During your visit, we take the time to review your medical history, symptoms, goals, lifestyle, and laboratory findings together. We discuss what your results may mean, how they may correlate with what you are experiencing, and what areas may be appropriate to address.
If treatment is appropriate, we develop your personalized plan and discuss the next phase of your care.
Hormone and metabolic optimization is not a one-visit process. Your body needs time to respond to treatment, and meaningful changes require monitoring, adjustment, education, and ongoing guidance.
Your care begins with a 12-week foundational program designed to establish your treatment plan, monitor your response, and give you the education and tools to better understand your hormones, metabolism, nutrition, lifestyle, and overall health.
Once your treatment is well established and your goals are being consistently supported, care transitions into 12-week maintenance phases. This allows us to continue monitoring your health, make adjustments when appropriate, and provide ongoing support while maintaining the progress you've made.
Your care is designed to evolve with you rather than end after a single appointment or a single 12-week period.
ANU Wellness is a cash-pay concierge practice built around individualized, proactive care and the time required to do it well.
Our consultations are intentionally longer than a typical primary care appointment. Your initial evaluation includes a dedicated 90-minute visit, giving us time to discuss your history, symptoms, goals, lifestyle, laboratory findings, and treatment options without trying to fit everything into a brief appointment.
Our care also doesn't end when your initial appointment does. Throughout your program, we continue to monitor your response, provide follow-up care, review laboratory changes, and make appropriate adjustments as your needs evolve. You also have ongoing access to the ANU team for questions and support throughout your care.
Rather than simply identifying whether a laboratory value falls inside or outside a reference range, we look at your results in the context of your symptoms, history, stage of life, and goals. A hormone specialist brings a different lens to these findings because hormones, thyroid function, metabolism, body composition, lifestyle, and symptoms are interconnected.
The result is a more comprehensive evaluation and a more individualized approach to your care.
Bioidentical hormones are hormones that are chemically and structurally identical to the hormones produced naturally by the human body. They are designed to interact with the body's hormone receptors in the same way as the corresponding hormones naturally produced by the body.
Bioidentical differs from synthetic hormone formulations, which have a different molecular structure from the hormone naturally produced by the body.
Hormone health changes throughout the lifespan, and hormone-related symptoms can look very different depending on your age, sex, and stage of life.
At ANU, we work with both men and women experiencing changes in hormonal and metabolic health, whether you're trying to understand symptoms that have been affecting you for years or simply want a clearer picture of where your health stands.
For women, this may include hormonal concerns associated with PMOS (formerly PCOS), PMDD, perimenopause, menopause, and postmenopause, as well as symptoms of hormonal imbalance at younger ages.
For men, we commonly work with age-related testosterone decline, sometimes referred to as andropause or late-onset hypogonadism. Unlike menopause, which involves a more defined transition, testosterone generally declines gradually over time. For some men, this can be associated with changes in energy, libido, mood, muscle mass, body composition, recovery, motivation, and overall performance.
Common symptoms we see in patients seeking hormone evaluation include changes in energy, mood, sleep, libido, body composition, muscle mass, recovery, motivation, cognitive function, menstrual cycles, temperature regulation, and overall sense of well-being.
Hormonal changes are a natural part of aging, but that does not mean every change in how you feel should simply be accepted without evaluation. Sex hormones and other physiologic systems can change progressively beginning in adulthood, with the pace and significance varying considerably from person to person.
For this reason, we encourage both women and men in their 30s and beyond to establish a baseline understanding of their hormone levels, metabolic health, and other important health markers. You don't have to wait until your symptoms become disruptive to understand what is happening in your body.
Your initial ANU evaluation provides a comprehensive starting point for understanding your current health and identifying areas that may be appropriate to address.
“Normal” doesn't mean optimal for you.
Lab reference ranges generally describe the values seen within a particular population - including the unfit and unhealthy. They are useful for identifying many forms of disease and significant abnormalities, but they don't necessarily tell us where an individual person feels their best, performs their best, or functions optimally.
This is where the perspective of a hormone-focused clinician can be valuable. Rather than looking at one result in isolation or asking only whether it falls inside a reference range, we consider the relationship between your laboratory findings, symptoms, medical history, stage of life, lifestyle, and goals.
A result can be technically “normal” while still providing useful information when considered alongside the rest of your clinical picture. Normal is not the same thing as optimal.
Depending on your individual needs and clinical appropriateness, treatment may include bioidentical hormone replacement therapy, testosterone therapy, thyroid support, medical weight loss, targeted supplementation, and nutrition, exercise, and lifestyle recommendations.
Not every patient needs every treatment. Your plan is based on your individual health, laboratory findings, symptoms, stage of life, and goals.
No. ANU Wellness is not a replacement for primary care.
We focus on hormone health, metabolic health, health optimization, body composition, and related areas of proactive care. We encourage patients to maintain an established primary care provider for routine preventive care, acute medical needs, age-appropriate screenings, and other primary care services.
ANU Wellness is a cash-pay practice and does not bill health insurance. This allows us to structure care around individualized evaluation and ongoing support without relying on insurance-driven protocols or appointment time limitations.
HSA and FSA cards are accepted at ANU Wellness. Eligibility requirements vary by plan, and it is the patient's responsibility to confirm that services are eligible under their specific HSA or FSA plan.
ANU Wellness cannot guarantee coverage or reimbursement.
You will receive detailed instructions before your lab draw based on the testing being performed and any medications or supplements you are currently taking. We prefer lab testing to be completed in the morning after an overnight fast, with 16–24 ounces of water consumed beforehand.
If you are currently taking testosterone, your lab draw should be scheduled for the day your testosterone dose is due. Hold your scheduled testosterone dose until after your blood is drawn, then take your dose as directed.
If you are taking other hormone or thyroid therapy, hold your hormone and/or thyroid medication the morning of your lab draw and take it after your blood draw is complete.
Certain supplements should also be held before lab testing. Biotin can interfere with certain laboratory assays, so discontinue biotin and any products containing biotin 3–5 days before your lab draw. Biotin is commonly found in multivitamins, beauty and hair or nail supplements, and some sports or health drinks. If you take vitamin B12, vitamin D, or iron, you will also generally be asked to hold these supplements for 3–5 days before your lab draw, unless otherwise instructed.
For women who are still cycling, timing within your menstrual cycle can also provide important context. When cycle-specific hormone testing is being performed, we generally prefer labs to be drawn on days 16–21. If you don't track your cycle or can't schedule your labs within that window, that's okay. Simply document the first day of your last menstrual period and, if possible, let us know where you are in your cycle at the time of your consultation.
Following these instructions helps us obtain the most useful and consistent laboratory results so your evaluation reflects your physiology, treatment status, and stage of life as accurately as possible.
ANU Wellness works with adults age 18 and older.
Our patient population spans a broad range of life stages, from men and women in their 20s through their 80s. Hormone and metabolic health look different throughout adulthood, and our approach is tailored to your individual stage of life, symptoms, health history, and goals.
Concierge care is about creating a healthcare experience around you, your time, and your individual needs.
At ANU, you aren't sitting in a waiting room for an hour only to be rushed through a 15-minute appointment. Your initial consultation and follow-up visits are intentionally longer, giving us the time to thoroughly discuss your concerns, answer your questions, educate you on your treatment options, and make sure you actually understand what we're doing and why.
We also understand that your schedule matters. We offer flexibility with scheduling and direct access to your provider between appointments when questions or concerns come up. Your care doesn't have to wait until your next scheduled visit.
Your program is also designed to give you resources and education beyond your appointments. As an ANU patient, you have access to program education designed to help you understand your hormones, metabolism, nutrition, lifestyle, and treatment so you can be an active participant in your care rather than simply being handed a prescription.
Your treatment is also customized to you, rather than dictated by what an insurance company will or won't cover. We can look at your individual symptoms, history, laboratory findings, goals, and response to treatment and build a plan around what you actually need.
And we take care of the details that can make healthcare feel like a second job. We help keep track of your lab monitoring and when you're due for follow-up, track prescription refills, and have treatments shipped directly to your door when applicable.
Concierge care is ultimately about time, access, convenience, education, and individualized care.
It's for the person who values their time, takes their health seriously, and sees the value in having a healthcare experience built around them rather than trying to fit themselves into a traditional healthcare system.
