Meet Brittany Urresta, FNP-C
My name is Brittany Urresta. I am a Nurse Practitioner and the founder of ANU Wellness, a concierge hormone, metabolic, and health optimization practice located in Alabaster, Alabama, serving patients throughout the state. I specialize in helping women and men understand and address the hormonal and metabolic changes affecting how they feel, function, and age. Usually, people come to me because something has changed. The weight is coming on differently. Their strength, energy, or motivation isn't what it used to be. They're not sleeping well. Their mood or sex drive has shifted. The things that used to work for their body aren't working anymore, and they want to know why. Through a whole-person approach to care, that's what we figure out together.

My Journey to Becoming an HRT Provider
I joined the Coast Guard when I was 17. I had no clue what I wanted to do with my life, but I knew I wanted independence, a challenge, and to do something good. That sense of service eventually led me to nursing. I ultimately earned my Master's degree from Samford University and spent six years working in emergency medicine, including at a Level 1 trauma center in New York during the height of COVID. For a long time, I thought I had wasted portions of my life doing things entirely different from what I do now. Looking back, I know every one of those experiences gave me something I use today. While finishing grad school, I started feeling terrible, and despite being a Nurse Practitioner, I couldn't figure out why. I went through the standard workups and kept hearing, ‘Everything looks good.’ Except I didn't feel good. That sent me down a rabbit hole of studying my own health, hormones, and HRT. I took courses, researched, went to conferences, and started connecting things I had previously thought of as separate problems. As I started feeling like myself again, I couldn't stop thinking: How bad would I have had to get before someone did something? That question ultimately changed the way I wanted to practice and led me to ANU.
What Makes the ANU Wellness Approach Different?
At ANU, I'm not interested in a one-size-fits-all protocol or prescribing a quick fix and sending you on your way. I listen, look deeper, and treat the whole person. That means looking at your symptoms, labs, health history, lifestyle, and goals, and using medical treatment alongside nutrition, exercise, education, and lifestyle changes to build a plan around you. It's care rooted in ownership, education, individuality, and quality. I want you to understand what's happening in your body, be part of the process, and have the tools to take care of your health for the long haul.
What's the Meaning Behind ANU?
ANU is a play on the idea of living anew and creating a new life, but it's also a tribute to my daughter. Her initials make up the name. I chose it because I want her to always know that you can change the direction of your life. You can chase a goal you didn't think was possible. You can do hard things. You can start over. And you can go against the grain when you believe there's a better way. I've done that throughout my own life, and I want to help my patients do the same with their health. You don't have to accept feeling worse because you're getting older or wait until something is seriously wrong to start paying attention. That's what ANU means to me.
