  • What is an appointment like?
At ANU Wellness, we are dedicated to providing our patients with the time, attention, and expertise they deserve for truly personalized care. Prior to your initial visit, you'll receive an order for a comprehensive lab panel that gives us valuable insights into your health status. Once the lab results are in, we’ll schedule a thorough, 60-minute consultation to review your results in depth*. During this time, we’ll take a detailed medical and social history, check your vital signs, listen to your concerns, and start building a solid patient-provider relationship. This extensive, tailored approach is designed to help us understand your individual expectations, long-term goals, and desired outcomes. We’ll develop a customized treatment plan that could include hormone replacement therapy (if indicated), targeted supplement recommendations, lifestyle adjustments, and exercise and nutrition education to support your unique health needs. As an ANU Wellness member, follow-up appointments and labs are scheduled based on your specific monitoring needs. These sessions vary in length, allowing us to review your treatment progress, adjust your plan, and address any concerns. For your convenience, follow-ups can be conducted via telehealth or in-office—whichever you prefer! *Please note we require lab results prior to your in person visit
  • How do I pay for labs?
Once you schedule your initial intake and complete forms on the patient portal, we will send lab orders to Quest Diagnostics draw center for bloodwork. For your convenience, you can schedule a blood draw appointment with them online. Labs can be run through your insurance OR paid in cash. Lab costs are separate from the consultation fee and will be paid at time of lab draw at Quest. Since we focus on hormone replacement and health optimization, insurance may not cover all lab costs. You are responsible for any uncovered amounts if choosing to use insurance. For cash pay, we've secured discounted pricing and offer labs to our patients at cost. Initial cash pay panels typically cost around $210.
  • How do I prepare for my lab draw?
Lab Draw Instructions Fasting: Labs should be drawn after an 8-hour fast, preferably first thing in the morning. Hydration: Drink 16-32 oz of water before your lab draw. Food & Beverages: Do not consume any food or non-water beverages, including coffee or tea. Biotin: Stop all biotin supplementation at least 3 days before your lab draw. This includes biotin found in sports drinks, supplements, B-complex vitamins, and pre-workouts. Biotin can interfere with some lab tests, particularly those related to thyroid and hormone levels. Hormone/Thyroid Medication: If you are on hormone or thyroid replacement, hold your medication until after your blood draw. Menstrual Cycle: If you are still having menstrual cycles, please note the day of your cycle when you have your blood drawn. Following these guidelines ensures accurate lab results and helps us create the best plan for your care.
  • Are you a primary care provider (PCP)?
At ANU Wellness, we focus on proactive health optimization, hormone replacement therapy, and lifestyle guidance rather than serving as a primary care provider. Our services are designed to complement, not replace, primary care by addressing specific areas like hormone balance, thyroid health, and wellness strategies that often go beyond traditional primary care. We encourage patients to maintain a primary care provider for general health needs, acute care, and necessary preventive screenings.
  • Do you take health insurance?
At ANU Wellness, we don’t accept health insurance—and here’s why. Our commitment is to deliver the highest quality of individualized, preventative care, and by operating outside of the traditional insurance model, we’re able to do just that. Health insurance often doesn’t cover essential services focused on health optimization, proactive wellness, and therapies such as Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT) or specialized lab testing. These therapies can be crucial for those seeking to address health issues before they become chronic conditions, improve vitality, and achieve long-term wellness. By choosing not to bill insurance, we remove the restrictions that insurers often place on care, such as standardized treatments or limited appointment times. Instead, we focus on what’s best for you as a patient, from extensive initial consultations to highly personalized treatment plans that include lifestyle, nutrition, and hormone optimization. Without the constraints of insurance, we can invest the time needed to understand your unique health profile, develop a specific approach to reach your goals, and make adjustments to your plan as your health evolves. This model empowers our patients to receive care that’s proactive, not reactive, and prioritizes true well-being over arbitrary insurance guidelines. Additionally, this approach provides transparency in pricing. You won’t be faced with unexpected bills or costs after the fact; instead, you’ll know what you’re investing in your health, allowing you more control and clarity. Our goal is to be your partner in health, providing comprehensive and effective care that places your well-being at the forefront—unrestricted by the limitations of traditional insurance models.
